We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to take the helm as the Head of our Complaints Department. The Complaints Department is an integral part of our Legal Department, responsible for handling internal complaints and leading litigation at the Dutch Institute for Financial Disputes (Kifid) and other venues of dispute resolution. As the head of this team, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding DEGIRO’s legal standing and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
You will lead, mentor and develop a team of Complaints Officers with different backgrounds and expertise. You will also work closely with colleagues from the Legal Department and other departments to navigate complex cases and drive strategic decision-making. Your expertise will guide the team in managing disputes, while your leadership will ensure our processes are efficient, and our defenses strong.
Essentially, we are looking for a lawyer with 5+ years of experience who loves to handle interesting legal challenges, but is ready for a shift away from the pressures of billable hours. This role offers the unique opportunity to focus on strategic legal work and improve the organization from within.  

Key Responsibilities:

•    Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Complaints Officers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
•    Strategic Oversight: Oversee all cases handled by the Complaints Department, including those at venues of dispute resolution like the Dutch Institute for Financial Disputes (Kifid) or equivalents in other countries where DEGIRO operates.
•    Internal Complaints: Supervise the handling of complaint cases within DEGIRO’s internal complaints procedure, ensuring efficient and fair resolutions.
•    Legal Research and Advisory: Carry out and oversee research assignments on legal and regulatory matters, providing strategic advice to the business on litigation-related issues.
•    Compliance and Monitoring: Support the Legal Department in monitoring legal and regulatory developments, ensuring that DEGIRO’s services remain compliant with evolving laws and regulations.

What We're Looking For:

•    Extensive experience of 5+ years in legal dispute resolution within the financial services sector.
•    Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
•    Knowledge of Dutch financial regulations and experience with Kifid or equivalent dispute resolution bodies.
•    Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages is essential.
•    Exceptional analytical skills, with a passion for investigating complex cases and building solid defenses.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise and collaborate effectively across departments.
